Bikes and parks go together well and Pelican Bike has the perfect solution if you want to spend a relaxing afternoon on a bike and see a great deal of the beautiful city of Valencia. This special tour will lead you to the green heart of the city and show you all the 50 shades of green the city has to offer in two and a half hours. The places we will visit are three beautiful parks of this vibrant city: the Royal Garden, Turia Park and the Cabecera Park. Every one of these parks is unique and you will have time to admire them one by one while discovering Valencia by bike.
Where do we start our Parks of Valencia Bike Tour?
The Cabecera Park is the home of many wild animals and marks the end of the 9-kilometer long Turia Garden. In this park we will find nice green spaces inviting to picnics as well as lakes and winding paths that cross this beautiful spot in a snake-like way. The Biopark, with its vast open spaces for animals from all around the world, is one of the main attractions of Valencia. Visitors can feel like a part of wildlife while watching the wild creatures from a safe spot. If you have some more time to spare in Valencia, we recommend to pay it a visit and enjoy not only the animals, but the nature as well. In the middle of the Cabecera Park, we will discover a lake with colorful boats in the forms of swans, ducks and even dragons floating on this calm lake. After admiring this relaxing green park, our tour will lead us to the very special Turia Park. This park has a very unique history. Once upon a time, it was a river but this river flooded the city and took many human lives, so it was decided to reroute the river and create a park instead. This space is now the main recreation spot for tourists and Valencians. Apart from recreation, it is used for all kinds of sports, it is the home of football fields, outdoor fitness parks and has its own racing as well as biking track. You can often see people celebrating birthday parties in this park as well.
This tour is a very special one amongst all of the bike tours in Spain, because we will pass plants and flowers from every part of the world. Orange trees and palm trees grow in the Turia park and pinewoods and roses give the air a special fragrance. We will even see bottled-trees, which are adapted to the hot climate of the deserts of Namibia or Australia. Cypress elms, mulberry trees, lindens and willows are part of the green variety, which can be found in the Turia Park. Not a plant, but one of the Twelve Treasures of Spain, are the impressive buildings of the City of Arts and Sciences, which can also be found in the Turia Gardens. The six different architectural gems mark the end of the former riverbed.
From the Turia Garden, we are very close to the Royal Garden, the Jardines del Real and we won’t miss out on this beautiful green spot while we bike through Valencia. This park is the former home of the royal palace. Nowadays the Royal Garden is hosting many cultural events. During springtime, this park is a magical place for booklovers. The Feria del Libro is all about books, and bookstalls can be seen in the park everywhere. During summer, many concerts are held here and you can enjoy different kinds of music at the central esplanade while breathing fresh air and enjoying the green surrounding.
You see, a bike tour of Valencia doesn’t always have to be the hustle and bustle of the city. It can be a relaxing and sporty event at the same time and Pelican Bike will be glad to help you recharge your batteries and seeing a great deal of the very green city of Valencia! See you soon on the green side of life!
